London Murder Trial Opens Over Two Women’s Deaths

Jurors have been told that Simon Levy, who denies murdering two women and raping a third, had previous convictions for sexual offences.
Simon Levy, 40, is on trial at the Old Bailey accused of murdering Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 54, and Sheryl Wilkins, 39, in London.
He is also accused of raping and attacking a third woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Levy denies the charges.
Simon Levy Trial Opens at Old Bailey
The prosecution told jurors that the three women connected to the trial were either sex workers or had sometimes exchanged sexual services for money or drugs.
Prosecutor Tom Little KC said that was not a coincidence.
He alleged Levy encountered the women through those circumstances and targeted them because he believed he could avoid responsibility.
The court also heard that Levy had previous convictions for sexual offences.
Jurors were told he had been convicted in 2021 over offences committed in 2018, and again in February 2026 over a series of sexual assaults involving different women.
The defence has not accepted the prosecution’s case.

Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo Found in Walworth
Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo was found dead on 17 March 2025 in the stairwell of a derelict building in Walworth, south London.
The Metropolitan Police later said officers were called to the Aylesbury Estate after reports of an unresponsive woman.
A post-mortem examination was unable to determine a cause of death.
The prosecution told the court that Levy had travelled to the area the previous day, when Valencia-Trujillo was last seen alive.
Jurors were also told that DNA evidence linked Levy to the scene and to Valencia-Trujillo’s body.
Levy was arrested in April 2025 in relation to her death and released under investigation while police inquiries continued.

Sheryl Wilkins Death Linked to Joined Case
Sheryl Wilkins was found dead in Tottenham in August 2025.
The court heard that she and Levy went to a car park on High Road, Tottenham, where prosecutors say a previous attack on the surviving woman had also taken place months earlier.
Jurors were shown CCTV said to place Levy and Wilkins together before her death.
The prosecution said Levy was later seen leaving the area.
Police officers found Wilkins dead later that morning.
The Metropolitan Police said in its official case update that all three cases were being treated as part of a single joined investigation.
Levy was charged with Wilkins’ murder in September 2025, before being charged later with the murder of Valencia-Trujillo.

Defence Challenges the Allegations
The trial also concerns a third woman, who survived an alleged attack in January 2025.
Prosecutors allege she was raped and violently assaulted in Tottenham.
The defence told the court the woman was not telling the truth about the alleged attack and challenged her reliability.
The defence also said she identified Levy because she had known him for years, not because he had attacked her.
That is now one of the central disputes for the jury.
The prosecution is asking jurors to view the three cases as connected by pattern, opportunity and alleged targeting.
The defence is expected to challenge the reliability of the prosecution’s interpretation and the allegations against Levy.
The trial continues.
