Fruit Pouches Recalled Over Plastic Contamination

PT Organics Limited has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry fruit puree pouches after inspections confirmed a strand of soft, food-grade plastic could be present inside a small number of pouches.

Defect Traced To Packaging Supplier

The Food and Drug Administration published the recall notice on July 21, after PT Organics' packaging supplier flagged a defective production run. Subsequent inspections of finished product confirmed the presence of a plastic strand attached to the inside of a small number of affected pouches.

The Oregon-based company said the issue was an "internal packaging defect" limited to one production run on one line, calling it "the first of its type in 20 years serving our customers."

Recall Covers Six Best-Before Dates

The recalled 4-ounce (113g) pouches were sold exclusively at Kroger, Meijer, and Target stores nationwide between March 6 and July 13, 2026.

Affected pouches carry barcode 8 15367 01078 0, with a lane number 4 printed near the right-hand seam, and one of six best-before dates: January 19, January 20, March 17, March 18, May 14, or May 15, 2027. No other Pumpkin Tree products, flavors, or dates are affected.

No Injuries Reported

PT Organics said no injuries have been reported in connection with the defect. Consumers who have the recalled pouches are advised not to eat them or feed them to another person, and to either dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.

The company praised its packaging supplier for "acting quickly" once the fault was identified, noting the affected fault was intermittent and limited to one of four production lanes.
