The Panasonic toaster recall covers about 13,664 electric ovens sold in the United States and Canada because insufficient power-cord insulation can create electric-shock and fire hazards.
Consumers should stop using the affected products immediately. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Health Canada and Panasonic direct owners toward a refund rather than continued use or a home repair.
Models Differ by Country
The U.S. recall covers Panasonic electric toaster oven model NB-G200, including the model label NB-G200SVA. About 11,480 units were sold nationwide.
Canada's notice covers the FlashXpress model NB-G205S, with 2,184 units reported sold. The products have stainless-steel trim, infrared heating and a model label on the rear.
Owners should check the label rather than rely only on appearance. Similar countertop ovens can share a design without being part of the recall.
The official CPSC recall notice is number 26-618. The Health Canada notice is identification number RA-82296.
Cord Insulation Creates Risk
The defect involves the power cord. Regulators say a protective fiberglass sleeve may not cover the insulation adequately, leaving a potential shock or fire hazard.
The recall is preventive; consumers do not need to see exposed wire, smoke or scorch marks before acting. Continuing to use a listed model can place stress on a component that authorities have already identified as insufficiently protected.
Do not open the appliance, splice the cord or add tape as a substitute for the recall remedy. Unplug it by gripping the plug when safe to do so, then keep it out of use while arranging the return or refund.
Incidents Remain Limited
CPSC reported four U.S. complaints involving tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that an oven stopped working. No fires or injuries had been reported.
Health Canada said it had received no Canadian incident or injury reports as of June 15, 2026. The absence of injuries does not cancel the recall; safety programs often remove products before the identified defect causes harm.
The U.S. notice says the ovens were sold online through Amazon, Costco, Panasonic and other platforms from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170. Canada's reported sales period ran from November 2025 through March 2026.
Refund Steps Differ
U.S. consumers can contact Panasonic at 888-943-2391 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern or use the company's recall information page.
Canadian consumers are directed to return the product to Panasonic Canada for a refund. Health Canada lists 888-422-6296 for English or French service during the same weekday hours.
Before shipping or returning the oven, follow Panasonic's instructions for proof of model, ownership and disposal or packaging. Do not mail an appliance without receiving the approved process and destination.
Resale Is Prohibited
Owners should not donate or resell a recalled oven. Health Canada states that recalled consumer products cannot be redistributed, sold or given away in Canada.
U.S. federal law also prohibits selling a product covered by a CPSC-ordered recall or a voluntary recall conducted with the commission. Online marketplace listings do not override those restrictions.
If an owner already experienced arcing, shocks, overheating or a tripped breaker, the incident can be reported to the applicable regulator as well as Panasonic. Medical attention is appropriate after an electrical shock even when an injury initially appears minor.
💭 TheTrendsWire's Take
This recall has a simple action but a model-number trap. U.S. and Canadian consumers are searching the same product family, while their labels and contact routes differ. Check the rear label, stop use if it matches and follow the regulator-linked refund process for your country. No visible damage and no reported injury do not make an affected oven safe to keep using.
