Ian Williams was last seen near a familiar stretch of Los Angeles coastline. His family hasn't heard from him since.

The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public's help finding the 13-year-old, who has severe autism and went missing from Dockweiler State Beach on Monday evening.

What Police Have Said

Williams was last seen near Tower 42 at Dockweiler State Beach at approximately 6:20pm, close to the 6900 block of Pacific Avenue.

"Ian suffers from severe autism and has not been seen or heard from since," the LAPD said in its public appeal, adding that his family is concerned for his safety.

Identifying Details Police Have Released

Williams is described as Black, with long black dreadlocks and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing roughly 105 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, a navy-blue vest and blue jeans.

Police say he might be riding a gray battery-operated scooter and wearing a gray helmet, a detail that could help narrow the search area given the extra range a scooter provides.

How to Help

Anyone with information about Williams' whereabouts is asked to call the LAPD's Pacific Division at (310) 482-6334 or dial 911.

During non-business hours and weekends, calls can be directed to (877) 527-3247.

💭 TheTrendsWire's Take

The scooter detail matters more than it might seem — a battery-powered vehicle means Williams could realistically be well beyond typical walking distance from Dockweiler by now, which is exactly why LAPD is treating this as a public appeal rather than a localized beach search. Cases involving autistic missing minors carry elevated urgency because communication and situational-awareness barriers can make a routine wander far more dangerous than it would be for a neurotypical teen, and that's likely shaping how quickly and widely this appeal has been pushed out.
