Teen Held Over Knife as Stabbing Victim Found in Enfield

A man was stabbed multiple times in North London after a street fight broke out on Ponders End High Street in Enfield.
An 18-year-old was arrested after a CCTV operator gave officers fresh information linking him to a knife earlier that evening.
What Happened on Ponders End High Street
Police were called at 1.47am on Wednesday to reports of a fight between several men on Ponders End High Street, according to a Metropolitan Police statement.
Officers arrived to find the group had largely dispersed, but were told a man with a knife had been seen nearby on Lincoln Road.
Police located and searched an 18-year-old man matching the description given. No knife was found on him at that point.

The CCTV Tip That Changed the Arrest
Shortly after the initial search came up empty, the case shifted.
A CCTV operator told officers that recent footage had captured the same man in possession of a knife earlier that evening, before the search took place.
That single piece of information was enough to escalate the encounter. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, and remains in custody.

The Second Scene Officers Didn't Know About Yet
While the arrest was unfolding, a separate piece of the night's events was still developing nearby.
The London Ambulance Service alerted police to a man who had sustained several stab wounds on nearby Garfield Road.
Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to hospital. His injuries have since been assessed as neither life-changing nor life-threatening.

How the Pieces Fit Together
Three separate streets, within minutes of each other, all tied to the same call-out: Ponders End High Street, where the fight started; Lincoln Road, where the knife was reportedly seen; and Garfield Road, where the stabbing victim was found.
The Metropolitan Police has not yet confirmed whether the arrested 18-year-old is connected to the man found stabbed on Garfield Road, or whether both incidents stem from the same fight.
That gap is the central unresolved question in the case so far. An arrest has been made over the knife sighting, but no charge has yet been confirmed specifically tying that arrest to the stabbing itself.
What Happens Next
The investigation into the full circumstances remains active, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone with relevant information has been asked to call 101, quoting reference CAD 590/24Jun.
