Six Charged Over Edinburgh Attacks Linked to Gang War

Six people have been arrested and charged following a series of attacks on properties in Edinburgh last month — including an incident in which a vehicle was driven into a property and set on fire.
All six have been released on an undertaking to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
Three Incidents, One Street, One Night Apart
The offences took place across three incidents in late May, two of them on the same street within hours of each other.
The first occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, when police were called to a disturbance at a property on Balderston Gardens North. Three men aged 29, 33, and 40, and a 40-year-old woman, were arrested and charged in connection.
Less than 24 hours later, at approximately 4 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, a vehicle was driven into a property on the same street before being set on fire. Five men aged 19, 29, 29, 33, and 40 — and the same 40-year-old woman — were arrested and charged in connection with this second incident. According to The Edinburgh Reporter's coverage of the original incidents, the fire was extinguished with no reported injuries.
A third incident took place at approximately 5:05 a.m. on May 27, when a number of windows were smashed at a property on Niddrie Marischal Drive. A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection.

The Operation Portaledge Connection
When the Balderston Gardens North attacks occurred in May, Police Scotland confirmed detectives were keeping an open mind about whether both incidents were linked to Operation Portaledge — a dedicated task force launched after two Edinburgh homes were targeted by gunmen in March 2025.
The operation has since been investigating an ongoing gangland feud spanning Scotland's central belt.
Since the original Edinburgh attacks, the feud has escalated significantly. A skip lorry was driven into a living room on Brand Drive at around the same time as the Balderston Gardens North incidents — and a video circulated online showing the vehicle reversing at speed through a property wall, overlaid with the Tamo Junto (TMJ) gang's branding. More recently, a business on The Wisp in Edinburgh was firebombed on June 16, followed by a vehicle fire that spread to a property on Garvel Crescent in Glasgow on June 18, according to STV News. Neither Police Scotland nor Edinburgh Live's reporting on the June 22 charges explicitly names Operation Portaledge in connection with these six, but the pattern of locations and methods is consistent with the same investigation.

What the Charges Represent
The charges matter beyond the immediate individuals involved.
When Balderston Gardens North was first attacked in May, Police Scotland had made no arrests. The June 22 charges represent the first confirmed prosecutorial action against individuals connected to those incidents — weeks after they occurred, and weeks after the feud continued escalating.
Detective Sergeant Chris Docherty said this type of criminal behaviour has a direct impact on local people and will not be tolerated, adding that officers remain committed to ensuring communities feel safe and to holding those involved to account.

What Comes Next
All six individuals have been released on undertakings to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a date yet to be confirmed.
The investigation into the broader Operation Portaledge feud remains active. Police Scotland has not confirmed whether the June 22 charges are connected to the ongoing task force inquiry, and further charges related to the wider pattern of incidents across Edinburgh and Glasgow remain possible.
